Back in August of 2019, Laurie and I were working together from a coffee shop when she casually mentioned she saw crazy cheap flights to Barcelona for the beginning of 2020. We went home that evening, convinced the boys to go, and booked our tickets…we have so much self-control, I know. Little did she know that Derek was planning to propose in October, and I knew our trip would be the perfect time for engagement photos.
Fast forward to the end of February this year and we were off to Spain for our Spring vacay (literally right before Corona hit and the world closed, the fact that we didn’t end up stuck in Spain is literally a miracle).
The first little session we did was very impromptu, as we didn’t plan on taking any photos in Girona… but when we stumbled upon this gorgeous location, I knew we had to make it happen. If you’ve seen Game of Thrones, you might recognize some of the architecture in these photos. Let me just say, if Girona isn’t on your bucket list, you should probably reconsider. Our photo session started at Plaça de la Catedral as we photographed our way through gorgeous alleyways and stunning medieval buildings.
Costa Brava was our next stop on this list for photos and it did not disappoint! We stayed in a beautiful hotel in Lloret de Mar, and because it was February and still quite chilly, we basically had the beach to ourselves! I think we all agreed coming back in the summer to enjoy the beautiful blue water is a must.
Our final photoshoot took place in the gorgeous mountains of Montserrat. This day was beautiful and it was COLD. I had kept a close eye on the weather leading up to this day trip and it kept calling for sunny and 70 degree weather…let’s just say that wasn’t the case. Our first hike was so incredibly windy that we ended up turning back when we got to a point where were facing the edge of a cliff with no tree protection to block the huge gusts. As the day went on we experienced everything from bright and sunny weather to snow, it was quite the roller-coaster. 😀 Despite the crazy conditions, it was the perfect end to an even more perfect trip.
So cheers to our last adventure for a few months, I will be reliving these moments until we can all come out of quarantine and make some new memories. <3
