Back in August of 2019, Laurie and I were working together from a coffee shop when she casually mentioned she saw crazy cheap flights to Barcelona for the beginning of 2020. We went home that evening, convinced the boys to go, and booked our tickets…we have so much self-control, I know. Little did she know that Derek was planning to propose in October.
Over the last few years elopements and intimate weddings have increased in popularity as couples are saying goodbye to the stress of putting on a big “production” for their wedding day. I think it is absolutely amazing that couples are finally realizing that less is often more when it comes to saying “I Do.”
This summer Drew and I went on the most epic road trip through the Pacific Northwest with some other incredibly talented creatives. During this trip we focused on scouting photo and ceremony locations in some of the most gorgeous parks in the U.S. It was a time for us to be adventurers first and photographers second.
It was an absolute dream to be able to spend the day with Lance and Kailee and capture these special photos. We had an amazing afternoon with stunning views and perfect weather. Kailee and Lance live in Arizona and this was actually there very first time to the Grand Canyon!! It was so special to witness them experience it for the first time alongside one another.
I don’t think my poor little camera has ever gotten more soaked during a shoot. If you look closely at some of these photos, you can literally see tiny pieces of hail in Gabe and Michelle’s hair! These two babes are probably the sweetest, most kind human beings I’ve ever met. They were so comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera, and it really shows in these photos.
Shooting with Matt and Tamar in the gorgeous Scottish Highlands was such a dream. I can’t think of a more beautiful elopement destination than Scotland. We had some gnarly weather, with cold temps and pouring rain, but I don’t think smiles ever left their faces. We were literally huddling together at one point to keep them warm!
